Our  Community

Our Lady of Good Counsel is a parish in the Archdiocese of Glasgow. As disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, we are centred on the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, the highpoint of our community life and the inspiration for all our activities.
Parishioners and visitors alike comment on the warm welcome that all receive. If you are new to the parish please introduce yourself to Fr Joe and Deacon Tommy. You are welcome to participate in all our activities and even start some new ones!

Celebration of the Sacraments
Holy Mass is celebrated at 10.00am each weekday in the parish, except Thursday and Saturday. The weekend timetable is available on the Home Page.

The Sacrament of Confession is an important part of our faith life and is celebrated on Saturday morning from 10.00-11.00am in the parish hall and from 4.30-5.15pm in the church. After Vespers on the first Wednesday of the month, Confession is available until 7.30pm. Fr Joe is happy to make Confession available at other times when requested.

Parishioners who will be in hospital should request to see the Catholic Chaplain to ensure that spiritual needs are met. Please inform the parish clergy that you will be in hospital and if desired request the Sacrament of the Sick.

The Sacraments of Baptism and Marriage are celebrated after a suitable period of preparation.
Prayer and Devotions
A group of parishioners pray the Rosary at 9.30 on weekday mornings.

The parish pray 2 regular novenas:
  • Wednesday after 10.00am Mass - Novena to Our Lady of Good Counsel.
  • 3rd Saturday of the month after Holy Mass at 11.30am: Novena to St Peregrine (for those suffering from cancer or other serious illnesses, their families and friends and healthcare workers who support them).
Tea and coffee is served in the Parish Hall after these novenas. Please come and join us.

Evening Prayer of the Church (Vespers) is prayed on the first Wednesday of the month at 6.30pm.
Faith Formation
Here in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish we recognise the importance of growing in our faith through prayer and study. The 'Monday Group' (as it has come to be known - we are an imaginative crowd!) meet in the Parish Hall at 7.00pm on Monday evenings. We pray Vespers together and explore different aspects of our Faith using books and videos. We have looked at the lives of 20th century saints, watched and discussed Bishop Barron's Catholicism programme and read Scott Hahn's Lord, Have Mercy. Currently we are be watching The Chosen.

Social Life
Many good friendship have begun in the parish and we always welcome new faces. We have a 'pop-up' Sunday Cafe and social events such as the ever popular 'Fish Supper Nights'.
